School Lunch Program

We Won an Award!

We’re beyond excited to share that Madrone Trail’s lunch program is now award-winning! 🎉 Through the USDA grant program that has helped us make so many kitchen improvements in recent years, our team was nominated for a Recognition Award honoring our scratch-cooking and healthy meals concept. How cool is that?!

Our kitchen staff focuses on creating healthy, nutritious, and delicious scratch-made meals as well as compliance with all federal, state, and county nutrition and safety regulations. This is not your average cafeteria!

Free Breakfast & Lunch (K–8)
Breakfast and lunch meals are still free—no EZ App pre-orders needed. Students choose from the menu at the service window. A “no thank you” bin is available for items that students choose not to eat. Snacks are not free, and we do not offer second helpings or after school snacks. We encourage parents to send healthy snacks to school with any students who need a bit more fuel to last the school day.

Snacks & EZ App
To receive snacks, students will need a positive balance on their EZ App accounts. Last year’s balances have rolled over. Students with $0 or negative balances will not be able to receive snacks. See the enclosed Snacks Menu for options and prices.

  • New families: Activate your EZ App parent account using the enclosed instructions.
  • Returning families with new students: Link the new student’s account (see “Linking a Student” in the packet). Forgotten password? Use the EZ App link to reset.

Payments for snacks can be done directly in EZ app or with cash, check or credit card in the office.

Allergens & Dietary Restrictions
If your student has allergies or alternative dietary needs, complete the form online or on paper and return to Ms. Sherrie. No changes since last year? You can skip—just notify us of updates and fill out a form for any new students.

Peanut-Free School Notice

To help keep all members of our school community safe, our school is a peanut-free campus.

  • Peanuts and peanut products are not permitted in lunches, snacks, or on campus.
  • Tree nuts (such as almonds, cashews, walnuts, etc.) are allowed.

We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in supporting the health and safety of our students.

Field Trips
A big change this year which will help us avoid food waste and streamline field trip meals for teachers: parents will be asked to order field trip lunches at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled trip. Look out for details soon in an upcoming Friday update.
